Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar, the American and British sitar artist. She was the first person within her age bracket to receive the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She's the daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Her birthplace was in London in 1982. She was a young girl who travelled from London in London and New Delhi. In the age of thirteen she staged her first show at New Delhi. She graduated in 1999 from her high school education within Encinitas CA. Anouskha was only 17 years old, has had an impressive recording and performing career. She has been accompanying her father on stage for many years. Her debut single album Anourag in the year 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biography she wrote in 2002. Later, she moved to California for high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration she made her debut performing the sitar before the crowd of at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Accompanying her father as they toured around the globe, Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of experiences appearing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also performing alongside George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her artistry and musicianship as a preeminent musician of in the Asian Arts.
